One Star chef Luke Tipping of Simpsons’ in Birmingham and Laslan’s British Curry Award-winner Aktar Islam are making baby food, reports the Daily Telegraph (telegraph.co.uk/food and wine news/.

Tipping said “There’s nothing wrong with a baby eating a fresh meal, I would rather they did that than give them the usual processed stuff that’s out there,” he said.

Islam has created summer berry shirkhand for the toddlers and spice tomato and cumin scented rice service with chargrilled summer vegetables for schoolchildren.

The meals will go before a panel of babies, toddlers, children and parents on Wednesday as part of the Taste of Birmingham festival.

Aktar Islam’s warm vermicelli pudding scented with cinnamon and green cardamom. Sprinkled with crushed pistachio and rusk croutons.
Ingredients
50g Vermicelli
20g Butter
300ml Milk
1tbsp Sugar
4 Green cardamom pods
1 stick of Cinnamon
2 Dried Cassia Leaves
Indian Rusk cut in to 1cm cubes (optional)
Crushed Pistachio (optional)
Method
Melt Butter in a pan on a moderate heat Add cardamom, cinnamon stick and dried cassia leaves and stir for 1 minute, be careful not to burn the butter Crumble the vermicelli and add to the pan and sauté for 2 minutes Add the sugar followed by the milk Simmer for 10 minutes or until the milk thickens Garnish with Rusk cubes and sprinkle with crushed Pistachio
